In this article, I’ll break down all the essential steps you can follow for seamless and no-frills travel by bus. This will guarantee you enjoy a hassle-free journey. Let’s dive right in and explore the tips and tricks for an optimal bus travel experience!

How Many Buses Are There From Ho Chi Minh City To Vinh Long?

Simply put, we have at least two:

• Futa Busline (Phương Trang Bus)
• Thai Bao Limousine

What’s the difference?

First, Thai Bao is a family business. Their office is in District 5, which is about 30 minutes by Grab car from downtown District 1. You’ll eventually arrive at their office in the city center of Vinh Long as the last drop-off point.

Wondering if they will take you to your hotel/home later on?

Yes, the driver drops off all passengers whose desired drop-off points align with the car’s main route. Otherwise, he’ll stop by the main office first. Then, you’ll collect your bags and hop on another mini van/car for a free ride to Mekong Pottery Homestay.

How to book Thai Bao bus tickets? You can book tickets online.!

STEP 1: Visit Vexere.com

STEP 2:

• Choose Ho Chi Minh as a departure point.
• Choose Vinh Long as a drop-off point.
• Select the desired departure date (and Return if applicable), click Search.

STEP 3:

On the left side bar of the next screen, navigate down to the Filters section > Bus Operator, and tick the box of Thai Bao Limousine.

Now you’ll see a list of available tickets and departure times from Saigon for the day.

Click on the Book button under your desired departure time, select Seat, and hit Continue.

On the next screen, choose “VP Saigon” as the pick-up point and “Vinh Long Office” as the drop-off point.

Click Continue and proceed with the payment.

On the day of departure, hail a ride to Thai Bao Office in District 5 (Google Maps) and be present 30 minutes before the ride.

Upon arrival at Vinh Long Thai Bao Office, show the staff the location of Mekong Pottery Homestay on Google Maps and they will assign a free shuttle to fetch you to our home. This last leg of the ride should take like 15 minutes more.

 

Now let’s talk about Futa Bus!

This is my go-to ride. Futa is a big company. Chances are you’ve spotted bright orange 45-seater double-decker buses along the highways across southern Vietnam.

They are cool! A 3-hour bus ride even ends up with lie-down recliner seats. There’s a free shuttle for both pick-up and drop-off between your accommodation and the bus station.

This is a no-frills bus ride I’m looking for!

Futa Bus From Ho Chi Minh City To Vinh Long: A Detailed Instruction

Frequency: all day, every one hour.

Fare: 135,000/person (as of 2024)

Buying Futa Bus Ticket

Arrive at the nearest Futa Busline Ticket Office from your hotel. Grab Car ride-sharing service is available in Saigon. Buy your ticket there. We have 3 best places to recommend:

• (Ticket Office) Futa District 5: Google Maps
• (Main Bus Station – Ticket Booth #32) Western Bus Station

Tell the salesperson to get you on the earliest bus to BẾN XE VĨNH LONG.

Collect your ticket and pay in cash.

Navigate To The West Coach Station (Ben Xe Mien Tay)

If you travel from District 1 or 5, Futa will assign a FREE shuttle van. It will fetch you to the West Coach Station in Binh Tan District.

Your shuttle stops in front of the waiting lounge of Futa Busline. For those arriving at the Western Bus Station by Grab, arrive directly at the wait lounge by yourself.

Enter the wait lounge and wait until your bus is scheduled to depart.

The departure time of each bus is announced on the TV screen in the waiting lounge.

If you’re unsure when it comes, ask the receptionists at the wait lounge for better instruction. They will take you to where the bus parks.

Board The Bus

When it’s time, navigate to the right bus (check the bus code and bus license plate printed on your ticket).

Get on the bus with your shoes off.

The ride is about 3 hours.

About 2 and a half hours into the journey, they will stop at Phuc Loc rest stop. The stop will last for 25 minutes for a toilet break (picture below).

Remember the bus code and return to the right bus in time.

Arrive In Vinh Long

30 minutes later, you will arrive at Vĩnh Long Bus Station.

It is big and many people get off there so you won’t be missing it.

Getting off at Vinh Long Bus Station and you will see the shuttle driver in a green uniform. They will be standing right where the bus stops.
